In a significant operation, the police apprehended three history-sheeters, including one linked to the murder of a DMK functionary, for their involvement in smuggling ganja. The arrests were made as the authorities seized 303 kg of the illicit drug and two cars from the suspects at Kaiveli junction. The individuals taken into custody are identified as Kishore Kumar alias Ranjan Kishore Kumar (30) from Senthamil Nagar, Red Hills; K. Ashok (29) from Navalar Nedunchezian Nagar, Chengalpattu; and M. Udayakumar (23) from Irumbuliyur, East Tambaram. Kishore Kumar has a history of involvement in the murder of DMK functionary C. Selvam in Madipakkam and was absconding, avoiding a court hearing. He faces eight pending criminal cases and is listed in the history-sheet at Sholavaram police station. Ashok, also known as ‘Othakan’ Ashok, has 16 criminal cases against him, while Udayakumar has 13.
