In a significant development ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu, AIMIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has announced a pre-poll alliance between his party and the AIADMK. Owaisi revealed that the alliance will extend beyond the upcoming April 19 elections and continue until the state assembly polls in April 2026.The announcement came after AIMIM’s Tamil Nadu president TS Vakeel Ahmed and other party leaders held discussions with AIADMK General Secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy. Palaniswamy reportedly assured AIMIM leaders that the AIADMK would refrain from forming an electoral alliance with the BJP in the future, cementing the partnership between the two parties.
In a video message, Owaisi appealed to the voters of Tamil Nadu to support AIADMK candidates in the upcoming elections. He clarified that while AIMIM is not affiliated with either the INDIA bloc or the BJP-led NDA, the party sees the AIADMK as a suitable partner to advance its interests and agenda in the state.
