Southern Railway announces major changes to train services

Southern Railway has announced significant changes to the pattern of train services in the Chennai Division to accommodate the remodelling of the Tambaram Yard for engineering and signalling upgrades. The implementation of non-interlocked working of trains will take place from July 23 to August 18, resulting in several full cancellations, diversions, and partial cancellations.
Full Cancellation of Train Services
Several train services will be fully cancelled during this period:
Train No. 20691 Tambaram – Nagercoil Antyodaya Superfast Express on July 23-31.
Train No. 20692 Nagercoil – Tambaram Antyodaya Superfast Express on July 22-31.
Diversion of Train Services
In addition to the cancellations, numerous trains will be diverted:
Train No. 22632 Bikaner – Madurai Superfast Weekly Express, departing Bikaner at 15:00 hrs on July 21, will be diverted via Perambur, Arakkonam, and Chengalpattu, skipping Chennai Egmore and Tambaram. An additional stop will be provided at Perambur (09:15 Arr/09:20 Dep) for passenger convenience.
Train No. 22153 Chennai Egmore – Salem Superfast Express, departing Chennai Egmore at 23:55 hrs on July 23-31, will be diverted to run via Chennai Beach, Arakkonam, Chengalpattu, and Villupuram.
Train No. 22403 Puducherry – New Delhi Weekly Express, departing Puducherry at 09:55 hrs on July 24 and 31, will be diverted via Chengalpattu, Arakkonam, Perambur, and Gudur, skipping Chennai Egmore. An additional stop will be provided at Perambur (13:35 Dep) for passenger convenience.
Train No. 22535 Rameswaram – Banaras Weekly Superfast Express, departing Rameswaram at 23:55 hrs on July 24 and 31, will be diverted via Chengalpattu, Arakkonam, Perambur, and Gudur, skipping Chennai Egmore. An additional stop will be provided at Perambur (13:35 Dep) for passenger convenience.
Train No. 20482 Tiruchchirappalli – Bhagat Ki Kothi Humsafar Weekly Express, departing Tiruchchirappalli at 08:10 hrs on July 27, will be diverted via Chengalpattu, Arakkonam, Perambur, and Gudur, skipping Chennai Egmore. An additional stop will be provided at Perambur (13:35 Dep) for passenger convenience.
Train No. 11017 Lokmanya Tilak – Karaikal Weekly Express, departing Lokmanya Tilak at 13:15 hrs on July 27, will be diverted via Tiruttani, Melpakkam Cabin, and Chengalpattu. An additional stop will be provided at Tiruttani (09:05 Arr/09:10 Dep) for passenger convenience.
