Minister Ponmudi announced a notable increase in the number of applicants for engineering courses this year, with a significant portion of students admitted under the 7.5% reservation quota for those who studied in government schools. There has also been a rise in the number of students enrolling in both engineering and government colleges.
Counseling for engineering college admissions will commence on July 22 and will continue until September 11. The entire process will be conducted online, with admissions based on marks in the general category. This streamlined approach aims to facilitate a smooth and efficient admission process for all applicants.
This year has seen a higher number of applications for engineering colleges compared to last year. The increase in interest is attributed to various factors, including improved employability prospects through programs like “Naan Mudhalvan.” These initiatives have made engineering courses more attractive to students by enhancing their career opportunities.
The Tamil Nadu government has actively worked to boost employment opportunities for graduates. The state has signed agreements with foreign companies, creating a favorable environment for job creation and skill development. These partnerships aim to provide students with better job prospects and align their education with industry requirements.
The 7.5% reservation quota for government school students has played a crucial role in increasing the accessibility of engineering education for underprivileged students. This policy ensures that more students from government schools have the opportunity to pursue higher education and build successful careers in engineering.
