CM inaugurates various projects at Investment Conclave

Chennai: Chief Minister M K Stalin today inaugurated various industrial projects at the Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave 2024 in the city.

Investment commitments for the Rs 51,000 crore worth projects were made during the third edition of the Global Investors Meet –III held in the city in January 2024.

Talking to reporters ahead of the investors conclave, State Industries Minister TRB Rajaa said that a situation has arisen where the investments assured during the Global Investors Meet and the Chief Minister’s business trips to foreign countries are being realised.

Pointing out that 19 firms (projects) worth Rs 17,616 crore and capable for generating 65,000 jobs in the state.

Altogether, Rs 68,000 crore worth projects and capacity to create over one lakh jobs in the state have been realised, the state Industries Minister said, and added that the difference between the Dravidian model headed by Chief Minister MK Stalin and other governments was continuous follow up on the investment commitments through a committee and ensure a positive outcome and creation of jobs.

At the conference, Chief Minister Stalin said:

“In the past 3 years, investments amounting to â‚č9.74 lakh crore have been attracted. The growth of all sectors is equivalent to the growth of the entire society. In these 3 years, 31 lakh jobs have been created. The investments we have attracted through the Global Investors Meet are the reason for our success.

The Tamil Nadu government is working towards a target of achieving one trillion USD by 2030. The world knows that Tamil Nadu is a safe state for women. In a state where women are highly employed, various schemes are dedicated to them. Investors have developed a mindset that they can conduct their business peacefully because Tamil Nadu is a peaceful state. Industrialists should act as ambassadors of Tamil Nadu, inviting others to invest, he said

Stalin said, Only if industries grow will the state prosper, and the lives of the people will improve. We don’t consider our duty fulfilled just because an understanding has been reached. Rather than just concluding with agreements, all necessary support is being provided to investors to start their businesses. Today is the day when Tamil Nadu’s economy is showcased to the world. The industry should utilize the skills of Tamil Nadu’s youth. By starting industries in all districts, the surrounding areas will also experience development.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) announced the ground-breaking Ceremony of its hydrogen innovation centre at the Tamil Nadu Investors Conclave.

This new facility is being developed through a strategic partnership with Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) and Guidance Tamil Nadu, with the support of the State Government of Tamil Nadu. The hydrogen innovation centre is poised serve as a catalyst for innovation in the field of hydrogen technology.

The partnership aims to accelerate hydrogen ecosystem development and adoption in Tamil Nadu, and the rest of the nation. The upcoming hydrogen innovation centre by Hyundai Motor India Limited, IIT Madras and Guidance Tamil Nadu, is in line with HMIL’s goal of strengthening Tamil Nadu as a hub of automotive innovation and furthering a shared vision of introducing advancements in alternate fuels.

This will be an effective measure to reduce Tamil Nadu’s carbon footprint, and HMIL is positive this partnership will also play a crucial role in developing a skilled workforce for the emerging hydrogen economy.

The hydrogen innovation centre will be spread across 65,000 sq. ft. within the IIT Madras, Thaiyur campus, located on the outskirts of Chennai.

The hydrogen innovation centre is expected to be fully operational by 2026, and bears an innate potential to foster holistic development of hydrogen ecosystem in India.
