AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami has released a statement criticizing the DMK government’s failure to maintain law and order in Tamil Nadu, citing an increase in drug trafficking, sexual assaults, and violent attacks on political leaders and officials.Palaniswami highlighted the recent attack on AIADMK’s Coimbatore Vattam (Zonal) Secretary Raja, who participated in a human chain protest organized by the party. Raja, from Kuniyamuthur, had gathered a large number of people for the protest. Later in the evening, he was brutally attacked by unknown assailants with machetes while returning home on his two-wheeler.
Palaniswami also mentioned an incident in Mayiladuthurai, where AIADMK Vaitheeswaran Koil Peruratchi Secretary Ravi was assaulted by DMK members during the same protest. Ravi had spoken out about the issues in his local area, which allegedly led to the attack. Despite lodging a police complaint, no First Information Report (FIR) was filed against the perpetrators.
In his statement, Palaniswami demanded immediate action against the attackers and urged the government to restore law and order, stressing that political violence and assaults on party members were becoming rampant under the current regime.
