In a recent development, the leader of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Thol. Thirumavalavan, responded to a subtle call for alliance from the AIADMK by declaring that his party stands with the people, not political parties. His statement came during a conference in Chennai where various political leaders were present, including prominent members from DMK, AIADMK, and other parties, as the state prepares for the upcoming 2026 elections.
Thirumavalavan’s comment came in response to AIADMK’s Inbathurai, who had earlier mentioned that VCK would likely align with them. Speaking at the conference, Thirumavalavan made it clear that his party’s allegiance is with the people of Tamil Nadu, rather than with any political party. He emphasized that Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi would transcend party lines to stand with the people when necessary.
He stated, “We stand with the people. If there is a crisis that affects the people, we will be with them, beyond party affiliations. Election politics is one thing, but our commitment to the people and their struggles is another.”
Thirumavalavan’s words also touched upon the broader political context of the state, where multiple parties, including the ruling DMK, AIADMK, BJP, and Congress, are preparing for the 2026 state elections. The political dynamics in Tamil Nadu have been fluctuating, with discussions around potential alliances between various parties, including the AIADMK and Vijay’s new political party, raising questions about future political alignments.
Amid these developments, Thirumavalavan reassured his supporters that his party would continue to fight for the welfare of the people, regardless of electoral calculations or temporary political alliances. He made it clear that Viduthalai Chiruthaigal’s stance would always be rooted in the people’s interests, particularly when it comes to combating laws that harm the common people.
The conference, held in Chennai, also saw participation from legal experts and political figures such as Law Minister Ragupathi, DMK Organization Secretary R.S. Bharathi, AIADMK Administrator Inbathurai, and others. It marked a significant moment in the ongoing discussions about Tamil Nadu’s political future as parties prepare for the electoral challenges ahead.
