A total of 23 lakh applications have been submitted for additions and corrections to the voter list in Tamil Nadu, as per the latest figures. The Election Commission has been conducting a special revision process to update the voter list, ensuring eligibility as of January 1, 2025.

As of October 29, Tamil Nadu has 6.27 crore registered voters. The special voter list revision drive, which began earlier this year, concluded on November 28. The process invited applications for new registrations, name deletions, corrections, and address changes.

In the online category, 2.69 lakh applications were received for name deletions, while 1.60 lakh applications were submitted for name corrections and address updates.

Through direct submissions, 9.22 lakh applications were received for new voter registrations, including 18 applications from Non-Resident Indians (NRIs). Additionally, 2.81 lakh applications were submitted for name deletions, and 5.66 lakh for corrections and address changes.

The updated voter list is scheduled to be released in January 2025, aiming to ensure a comprehensive and accurate electoral roll ahead of future elections
