The Tamil Nadu government has announced that Pongal gift tokens will be distributed door-to-door starting January 3.To celebrate the harvest festival of Thai Pongal, all rice ration cardholders and residents of Sri Lankan Tamil rehabilitation camps will receive one kilogram of raw rice, one kilogram of sugar, and a whole sugarcane. Additionally, free dhotis and sarees for Pongal have been prepared and dispatched to all districts.
According to the government, the Pongal gift hampers will be distributed at ration shops from January 9. Tokens will be issued to ensure an organized distribution, with 200 families receiving their gift hampers daily.
The door-to-door distribution of tokens is set to begin on January 3 to facilitate the smooth disbursement of the Pongal hampers.
