David Miller’s century went in vain as New Zealand beat South Africa by 50 runs to set up Champions Trophy final date with India. Chasing 363, South Africa seemed to be on course in the initial part of their run chase but they stumbled later on, losing wickets in the middle overs, to eventually lose their way despite Miller’s face-saving century. Miller reached triple figures off the final ball of the match.
Earlier, Kane Williamson and Rachin Ravindra’s centuries powered New Zealand to 362/6. Rachin slammed 108 while Williamson became the first New Zealand batter to achieve the landmark of 19,000 international runs during his knock of 102. The pair added 164 runs for the second wicket after New Zealand opted to bat.
Handy contributions from Daryl Mitchell (49) and Glenn Phillips (49*) allowed the Kiwis to cross the 350-run mark.
