Our goal is to share power and authority:  Thiruma

Villupuram, Mar 17: Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thol. Thirumavalavan reaffirmed his party’s long-term vision, stating that their ultimate goal is not just participation in governance but also having a share in power and authority. He made these remarks while addressing a public gathering at the VCK’s victory celebration in Villupuram.
Thirumavalavan dismissed claims that actors entering politics would impact the VCK’s influence. He recalled similar comments made when Vijayakanth launched his party but emphasized that VCK has stood strong over the years. “No matter who starts a party, VCK will not be affected. No one can divert our movement using cinema glamour,” he asserted.
Reflecting on the party’s journey, he highlighted how VCK has maintained its pace for 25 years without decline or setbacks. “Sustaining a party for 25 years is itself an achievement. Some mock that we win only because we align with DMK and AIADMK. But even parties like PMK, MDMK, and DMDK have joined alliances after proving their electoral strength. We have remained strong enough for major parties to seek our alliance,” he added.
Thirumavalavan also criticized the way political influence is determined. “A certain actor has neither contested nor participated in elections, yet people already claim he will be the next Chief Minister. But when I secured a significant number of votes in my initial years, no one took notice. Because we haven’t independently demonstrated our electoral strength, major parties allocate us only a limited number of constituencies,” he said. He also noted that VCK was officially registered as a political party only in 2006, prioritizing ideology over contesting many seats.
“Our struggle continues for the welfare of Tamil Nadu’s people and to prevent casteist forces from dominating politics. Raising our flag in the fortress of power remains our dream. Our ultimate goal is to have a share in governance and authority,” Thirumavalavan concluded.
