After a prolonged delay, the trailer of actor Shiva’s much-anticipated film Sumo was unveiled by the makers on Sunday. Directed by SP Hosimin, known for February 14 and Aayiram Vilakku, the film promises a quirky mix of comedy and action.The trailer introduces audiences to a unique premise where Shiva and VTV Ganesh find themselves babysitting a towering sumo wrestler. Despite his immense physical strength, the wrestler is childlike in his mental faculties, leading to a series of humorous and chaotic situations. As the story progresses, the duo uncovers his backstory and gets entangled with his adversaries.
Sumo features a strong ensemble cast, including Priya Anand, Sathish, Yogi Babu, and Japanese sumo wrestler Yoshinori Tashiro in a pivotal role. The film has been in the pipeline since 2019 but faced multiple production hurdles, followed by delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Produced by Ishari K Ganesh under the Vels Film International banner, the film boasts a solid technical crew. Music is composed by Nivas K Prasanna, with cinematography by acclaimed filmmaker Rajiv Menon and editing by Praveen KL.
Sumo is slated for a theatrical release on April 25, clashing with Sundar C’s Gangers, setting the stage for an exciting box-office battle.
