Arjun Das has won the Best Actor award at the 15th edition of the Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival for his powerful performance in Rasavathi, directed by Santhakumar. The director announced the news on social media, highlighting that Arjun’s portrayal stood out among over 700 entries.This marks the second major recognition for Arjun’s role as Siddha doctor Sadhasiva Pandian, following his Best Actor win at the New Jersey Indian and International Film Festival.
An excerpt from a review of Rasavathi reads, “Arjun’s portrayal of Sadhasiva Pandian is characterised by sincerity and authenticity… his performance serves as the film’s cornerstone.”
The film also earned acclaim internationally, with Tapas Nayak winning Best Sound Design at the London International Film Festival.
Released in May 2024, Rasavathi tells the story of a reclusive Siddha doctor caught in a deadly ego clash with a psychopathic cop, played by Sujith Shanker.
