Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is set to inaugurate the 127th edition of the Ooty Flower Show on May 15, at the Government Botanical Garden in Ooty. Organized by the Department of Horticulture and Plantation Crops in collaboration with the Nilgiris district administration, the event has been extended from five to ten days this year to accommodate an expected surge in tourist footfall and to enhance public engagement.
The Chief Minister will embark on a five-day visit to the Nilgiris, departing from Chennai at 10 a.m. on May 12 and arriving in Coimbatore later that day before proceeding to Ooty by road. During his visit, he will also participate in multiple public welfare initiatives, including presiding over a patta distribution program, where land ownership documents will be handed over to thousands of beneficiaries. Additionally, he is expected to visit Doddabetta to interact with members of the tribal community.
The flower show, a highlight of Ooty’s annual summer festival, will run from May 15 to May 25, showcasing the region’s rich horticultural heritage through meticulously curated floral exhibits. After completing his official engagements, Stalin is likely to return to Chennai by May 17. Following the conclusion of the flower show, he is expected to visit Kodaikanal with his family for a brief vacation.
