Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC), Mr. S.K. Prabhakar, has confirmed that the results of the Group 1 preliminary examinations will be released within the next two months. He also hinted at the possibility of more vacancies being announced for Group 4 posts in the near future.
The Group 1 and Group 1A preliminary exams were conducted successfully by TNPSC on Sunday, for 72 important government posts, including Assistant Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), and Assistant Commissioner of Commercial Taxes.
The examination took place across 44 centres in Tamil Nadu, with a total of 2.49 lakh candidates permitted to appear. In Chennai alone, about 41,094 candidates wrote the exam across 170 centres. At the Tamil Nadu Girls Higher Secondary School in Egmore, around 200 candidates took the preliminary examination.
Prabhakar stated that all arrangements were made to ensure a smooth conduct of the exam across the state, especially in Chennai, where it was held at numerous centres without any reported issues. He added that once the preliminary results are announced, the main examinations will be conducted.
Highlighting TNPSC’s efforts to provide employment opportunities, the Chairman said that 10,701 candidates were recruited through TNPSC exams in 2024, and 10,221 more have been offered jobs since January 2025. He added that the commission aims to provide employment to another 12,231 candidates by the end of 2025.
