Birmingham, July 31: The India Champions cricket team has decided not to play against Pakistan in the semi-final match of the World Championship of Legends (WCL), which was scheduled to be held in Birmingham.
The decision was made as a mark of respect for the sentiments of the Indian public, especially in light of recent terrorist attacks in Pahalgam. Indian legends like Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, and Shikhar Dhawan were part of the team that chose to boycott the game.
This is the second time the India Champions team has refused to play against Pakistan in this tournament. Earlier, they skipped the group stage match as well.
As a result, the WCL organizers have called off the match, and Pakistan Champions have automatically advanced to the final.
One of the event sponsors, EaseMyTrip, also pulled out from the tournament, stating that they do not support any sporting ties with Pakistan under the current circumstances.
The organizers said they respect India’s decision and appreciated Pakistan’s willingness to play.
