London, Aug 4: The Oval Test, the final match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, has gone into a fifth day. Rain and bad light ended play early on Day 4, Sunday, 3 August.England need just 35 runs to win. India need three, maybe four, wickets. With the series so close, even a tie is possible.
Play was called off at 10:30 pm IST—an hour before the scheduled close—after a rain delay. India had gained momentum. England looked nervous after losing Joe Root, who had scored a century.
Indian bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna were bowling well. They put pressure on England’s Jamie Smith and Jamie Overton before rain stopped the game.
As both teams return for Day 5, the conditions and player mindsets will change. It adds more tension to an already exciting series.
