Wuhan, Oct 13: In a thrilling all-American final at the 2025 Wuhan Open, Coco Gauff defeated fellow American Jessica Pegula 6–4, 7–5 to claim her third WTA 1000 title and 11th career singles championship. The match, held on October 12, showcased Gauff’s resilience as she overcame early deficits in the second set to secure the win in straight sets.Gauff’s victory marks a significant milestone in her career, as she becomes the first woman since Serena Williams to win nine consecutive hard-court finals, a feat last accomplished by Williams between 2013 and 2015. Additionally, Gauff is now the second player ever to win both major WTA 1000 tournaments in China—Beijing in 2024 and Wuhan in 2025—joining Caroline Garcia, who achieved this in 2017.
