Chennai’s suburban electric train services were affected on Friday because of a technical problem in the railway system. Passengers experienced delays and changes to the regular train schedule, particularly during the morning peak hours.
Railway officials said the disruption was caused by a fault in the power supply equipment that feeds the electric train network. Technicians were immediately deployed to identify and rectify the issue, and efforts were underway to restore full services as quickly as possible.
Commuters faced inconvenience at major suburban stations as some trains were delayed or cancelled, prompting many to seek alternative transport. Railway authorities advised passengers to check train timings and platform updates before travelling.
The suburban rail network is a vital lifeline for daily commuters in the city, and officials assured the public that all necessary steps are being taken to normalise operations and prevent similar disruptions in the future.
