As the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections approach, political tensions continue to rise with fresh claims from Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay that the coming polls will be a direct battle between himself and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
Vijay addressed party workers and supporters during a TVK meeting in Vellore, asserting that the electoral fight is not just about parties but about leadership and governance. He criticised the incumbent Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government, accusing it of failing to meet public expectations and questioning its administrative record. He said TVK’s rise reflects widespread dissatisfaction with traditional parties and presented his movement as a people‑centred alternative.
In his address, Vijay shared a symbolic story to convey his perspective on leadership: in a bustling town, a fierce jallikattu bull blocked the main crossroads, preventing movement and causing chaos. Seasoned villagers tried to control it — but failed. Just when all seemed lost, a young boy stepped forward. Without experience or pretense, he calmly offered the bull grass, which the animal began to eat, eventually following him peacefully to the field.
Vijay drew a parallel between this tale and the political situation in Tamil Nadu, suggesting that experience alone does not guarantee solutions, and what matters most is the ability to act wisely and address problems effectively — just as the boy did with the bull. He implied that his party, like the boy in the story, can resolve the state’s challenges better than established players who talk at length but fail to deliver results.
He emphasised that votes are not commodities to be bought and that political leadership should be about understanding people’s real issues and finding practical solutions.
Vijay reiterated TVK’s independent stance in the elections, stressing that his party will contest with its own identity and not as a subordinate ally. He challenged the DMK’s governance record and presented TVK as a fresh force capable of bringing transformative leadership to Tamil Nadu.
