Chennai, May 19:

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras has invited applications for its Web-Enabled M.Tech and PG Diploma programmes, offering flexible higher education opportunities for working professionals as well as recent graduates. The initiative is aimed at enabling learners to pursue advanced technical education without interrupting their careers or relocating.

According to the institute, the last date to submit applications is May 31, 2026. Entrance examinations for shortlisted candidates will be conducted during June and July, while academic sessions are scheduled to commence between August and September.

For admission into the M.Tech programmes, candidates must have a relevant academic background along with a minimum of two years of work experience. Meanwhile, the PG Diploma programmes are open to graduates, including freshers, with preference given to those from related fields of study.

Explaining the unique features of the programme, Prathap Haridoss said the courses place a strong emphasis on project-based learning. Participants can align their academic work with real-world challenges in their workplaces and industries. He added that the flexible format allows learners to attend live online classes, typically held during evenings or weekends, making it easier to balance professional and personal commitments.

The programmes have also been designed with multiple entry and exit options. Students can begin with a PG Diploma and later transition into an M.Tech degree, while working professionals have the option to directly enrol in the M.Tech programme without taking a career break.

The courses cover a wide range of emerging and industry-relevant disciplines, including Aerospace Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Information Security, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Analytics, Mechanical Engineering, E-Mobility, and Process Safety, reflecting the institute’s focus on future-ready skills and technologies.
