Chennai, May 22:
The Tamil Nadu Cabinet led by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay is poised for further expansion, with key allies—the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML)—expected to be inducted shortly.
Recent developments indicate that while the initial Cabinet expansion saw the induction of 23 ministers, including members from the Congress, both VCK and IUML were not included at that stage. The delay was largely attributed to pending decisions on their nominees and internal coordination within the alliance.
Reports suggest that the IUML has already moved forward, with Papanasam MLA A.M. Shahjahan likely to be sworn in as a minister, strengthening minority representation in the government. VCK’s Vanniarasu is expected to take oath today.
Additionally, two portfolios—Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare, and Minorities Welfare—remain unassigned and are expected to be allocated to representatives from VCK and IUML once they formally join the Cabinet.
