Chennai, May 22:
In a step towards a TB-free India, the ICMR-National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis and the Central Council for Research in Siddha have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Chennai to promote integrative research.
The agreement, signed by Dr. Srinath Satyanarayana and Prof. N. J. Muthukumar, aims to advance joint efforts in tuberculosis control through clinical trials, drug development, capacity building and nutritional interventions using the Siddha system of medicine.
The collaboration will focus on combining modern medical science with traditional practices to strengthen TB diagnosis, prevention and post-treatment care. A technical session held alongside the signing highlighted the role of Siddha therapies, immune modulators and nutritional support in TB management.
Officials said the partnership is expected to enhance research outcomes and contribute significantly to Indiaâs TB elimination goals under ongoing national campaigns.
