Chennai, July 18:
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued a weather advisory forecasting a rise in temperatures across Tamil Nadu over the next five days, with maximum temperatures expected to remain 2°C to 3°C above normal in several interior districts.
According to the advisory, the heat is likely to intensify till July 21. In Chennai, daytime temperatures are expected to hover between 37°C and 38°C during this period.
The RMC also warned of uncomfortable weather conditions in coastal regions, including Puducherry and Karaikal, due to a combination of high temperatures and elevated humidity levels.
In Chennai, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy, with chances of moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning at isolated locations during the evening or night hours.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall has been forecast for isolated places in districts along the Western Ghats and parts of north Tamil Nadu, including north coastal areas.
The weather department has advised residents to take necessary precautions against the heat, particularly during afternoon hours, and urged people in coastal regions to remain prepared for humid conditions in the coming days.
