Trichy, Oct 22:
The BHIM Payments App has introduced Tatkal NPS, enabling eligible Indian citizens aged 18 to 85 to open a National Pension System (NPS) account in three steps without visiting a bank branch or submitting fresh paperwork.
The facility, launched by NPCI BHIM Services Limited under the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authorityās initiative, uses existing bank-verified KYC. Users must enter their date of birth, select an eligible bank account and make an initial contribution of at least ā¹250 through UPI.
The service is currently available to customers of SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank and Bank of Baroda. Subsequent contributions can start at ā¹10, subject to applicable NPS rules.
NBSL MD and CEO Lalitha Nataraj said the facility would simplify pension account onboarding, while PFRDA Chairperson S. Ramann said it would help expand retirement savings access across India.
