Dammam,  Oct 23:
An Indian national was killed and two others injured in an attack at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday night, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Thursday.
The Indian Embassy in Riyadh confirmed the casualties and said it was coordinating with Saudi authorities to assist the affected families. The mission expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation reported that the attack killed an Indian and a Saudi national and injured eight people. The injured included two Indians, two Yemenis, two Bangladeshis, one Saudi citizen and one Nepali national. Their injuries ranged from minor to critical, and they were receiving treatment at hospitals.
Authorities had not specified whether the attack involved a missile or a drone. The aviation authority said it was assessing the damage and working with relevant agencies to ensure the safety of passengers and airport personnel.
The incident comes amid escalating attacks on Saudi infrastructure as fighting involving Yemen’s Houthi rebels intensifies. Recent strikes have targeted airports and other civilian facilities, raising concerns over the safety of foreign workers and travellers in the Gulf region.
Indian authorities are maintaining contact with Saudi officials and the affected families as further details emerge.
