Chennai, Oct 23:
The Tamil Nadu government has reconstituted the Tamil Nadu Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TNRERA), appointing retired IAS officer K. Phanindra Reddy as its chairperson along with four members.
According to a government order issued by the Housing and Urban Development Department, retired IAS officers Reeta Harish Thakkar and Mythili K. Rajendran, retired district judge S. Kirubaharan Mathuram and retired engineer-in-chief K. P. Sathyamurthy have been appointed as members. The appointments were made based on the recommendations of the selection committee.
The reconstitution follows the resignations of former chairperson Shiv Das Meena and several members, after which the government appointed an interim panel to discharge the authority’s functions.
TNRERA regulates the real estate sector in Tamil Nadu under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016. It oversees compliance by developers and agents and provides a mechanism for addressing disputes and protecting homebuyers’ interests.
