Chennai, Oct 31:
The increasing incidents of power cuts in various parts of Tamil Nadu has not spared even Vice-President C.P.Radhakrishnan’s media interaction in Madurai on Friday.
After having darshan at the famous Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple in Madurai on day’s visit to Tamil Nadu, the Vice-President was interacting with the media, when the power went off for a few seconds. Though it was restored immediately, yet another outage occurred for a few more seconds, before the situation was set right, reports received here said.
The growing complaints of power cuts across the state has been plaguing the ruling TVK headed by Chief Minister Vijay, which has come under ire from the Opposition parties, including the DMK and the AIADMK.
Yesterday, when Edappadi K.Palaniswami was offering worship at the temple, the power went off and the state government attributed it to change of generators. It was restored after a few minutes.
Later addressing the media, EPS citing the rising incidents of crime, said “I thought that people cannot live peacefully under this regime. But not even they cannot offer darshan in temples due to power cuts”, he said.
Meanwhile, the Vice President exuded confidence of a Tamilian becoming Prime Minister in the future. Citing a Gujarati (Modi) and Kannadiga (H.D.Deve Gowda) having becomes Prime Ministers, he said a Tamilian too could hold that post in future.
He said 15 years back none believed that India would become a superpower. Now India was fast emerging as a super power, he added.
