Chennai, Oct 31:
The Madras High Court has directed the Shastri Nagar police to file the final report within four weeks in the case registered against Kayalvizhi, daughter of former Union Minister M K Alagiri, for allegedly slapping a State Bank of India (SBI) branch manager in Chennai.
The police had registered a case against Kayalvizhi under four sections, including criminal intimidation, following a complaint that she slapped the bank manager at the Adyar branch of SBI.
Challenging the case, Kayalvizhi had approached the Madras High Court seeking its quashing. In her petition, she contended that the bank manager had lodged a complaint concealing the fact that he had allegedly abused her in filthy language.
When the petition came up for hearing before Justice G K Ilanthiraiyan, Kayalvizhi’s counsel submitted that she wished to withdraw the petition.
Accepting the request, the judge permitted the withdrawal and dismissed the petition. He also directed the Shastri Nagar police to file the final report before the trial court within four weeks.
