The Tamil Nadu government has officially granted permission to host early morning First Day First Show (FDFS) screenings starting at 6:00 AM across cinema halls in the state. The move marks a key reversal of previous restrictions that had largely capped opening shows from 9:00 AM onwards.
Theatre owners, distributors, and exhibitors had long been petitioning the administration for early dawn shows, particularly during major festival windows and tentpole releases of superstar actors. Industry bodies pointed out that early morning slots not only satisfy fan craze but also ease massive rush at box office counters and help generate strong weekend footfalls for high-budget commercial ventures.
The order has triggered widespread celebration among cinema fan clubs and single-screen owners across Tamil Nadu, ahead of upcoming marquee holiday releases. Multiplex operators and exhibitors have welcomed the move, noting it will provide a massive financial fillip to the theatrical exhibition business.
