The show, Ilayaraja 75, organised by Tamil Film Producers Council, was a nostalgic journey for Ilayaraja fans as he belted out his hit numbers from the late 1970s and 1980s. There were cheers, whistles and applause as Ilayaraja took to his harmonium and preformed non-stop for over four hours.
The highlight of the ‘Ilayaraja 75’ show at Nandanam YMCA Grounds Sunday evening was actor Kamal Haasan. He chose to share the stage with Ilayaraja and croon with the orchestra some of his popular numbers from Sigappu Rojakkal till Hey Ram. Taking a trip down to the past, he shared his experiences on singing for Ilayaraja.
No sooner the show began than Ilayaraja called Rajinikanth on to the dais. At his humorous best, Rajinikanth was sharing his experiences with Ilayaraja.
After winning several hearts with a good show in Bigg Boss reality show, Oviya is busy doing a handful of movies. She says, “I want to do three or four films a year. Rather than numbers, I prefer strong roles.” The actress adds, “In Aarav-starrer Raja Bheema, I play myself. I appear for a dance number. I am sure the audience will love it.”
