This summer, residents in and around Anna Nagar are a worried lot due to water scarcity in the neighbourhood. They depend on Metro water tankers that supply water once in two days. But, those living in Asiad Colony, Thirumangalam, Anna Nagar West Extension are not bothered because they are getting enough water from borewells.

Age is no bar for hard work. R Bavandass (71) does ironing work for the past 43 years on 8th Cross Street, Shenoy Nagar, Chennai, to earn his livelihood.
Bagirathan is focussing on waste management. Many Corporation officials come to his house to know the formula for composting waste collected on the streets.
In 2011, our former Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa presided over a special programme to honour people who were born on 15 August. Nearly 150 people participated and I was among them. They honoured me in a special way by asking me to cut a 10-feet cake.
In 1990, I started to teach Thanjavur painting. Then, I worked as a drawing teacher for more than eight years in RMK School, Thiruverkadu. Out of my 40 students in a year, 25 became architects and fashion designers learning drawing. Till now, I would have taught more than 10,000 students in my 27 years of service.
I never use dust tea for preparation. I use original tea leaves. So, the taste is good and remains in the tongue for a long time. Many customers have said they drank real tea after a long time.
