Bala’s assistant Nandhan directs movie on drug-trafficking

National award-winning filmmaker Bala’s assistant Nandhan ventured to direct a movie titled Mayuran.

Set around a men’s college hostel, the movie speaks about drug-trafficking. It brings to the fore about students from the northeast, like Manipur, Tripura, Meghalaya and Assam.

Speaking about the film, Nandhan said, “It is an action-thriller against a backdrop of illegal activities happening in a college hostel. A guy from the hostel goes missing one night. How the hero played by Anjan Dev investigates his missing friend and the startling things he comes across in the process forms the crux of the movie.”

Ashmitha, a graduate from National School of Drama, who has acted in Bengali films, is debuting as the heroine.

Vela Ramamurthy will be seen in a character with grey shades. Balaji Radhakrishnan from Koothu-p-Pattari plays the missing boy.

Sashi from Jharkhand is introduced in a key role.
