The Vaigai Dam has released around 2,000 cusecs of water to support irrigation in the Sivaganga district, benefiting thousands of farmers across the region. This release, effective from November 2 to November 6, 2025, aims to help cultivate approximately 40,743 acres of traditional ayacut land.The water release corresponds to about 772 million cubic feet (mcft) over five days, following significant rainfall in the dam’s catchment areas brought by the recent northeast monsoon.Â
