Infibeam Avenues, India’s first listed e-commerce company, has complained to the government and Securities and Exchange Board of India about a WhatsApp message that wiped off 73 per cent of share price.

DMK today filed a case against State Municipal Minister S P Velumani on corruption charges. There were allegations that Velumani had handed over government contracts to his relatives. A complaint was lodged with DVAC officials on 10 September.

At least two weeks after the allegations raised against BJP national secretary H Raja for defaming the High Court, the Chief Justice of Madras High Court VK Tahilramani has directed the court registry to list suo motu contempt proceedings against him before division bench consisting of justices Nirmal Kumar and CT Selvam.

Tension gripped the central prison of Cuddalore after the Central Intelligence Bureau (IB) issued an alert that extremist organisation ISIS is planning to attack the premises to rescue their member, Ansar Meeran, who is currently lodged there. Following the alert, security has been beefed up in and around the jail complex.

Police and defence sources said all three people, who were on board the chopper, were safe. A technical snag was said to be the reason for the crash. The authorities have ordered a detailed probe into the crash.

A robbery bid at Axis Bank in Ramapuram late last night was thwarted by an alert security team from Mumbai who was monitoring the bank and ATM remotely through CCTV cameras.

Minister for Information and Publicity Kadambur Raju paid tributes to the actor on his 90th birthday, on behalf of the government at the Sivaji memorial in Adyar this morning. Speaking to reporters,  the Minister said the government will reconsider shifting the statue of the actor to Marina, where it was first installed.

The hike in LPG cylinder rate comes into force from today, says Indian Oil Corporation. According to reports, there will be Rs  2.89 increase in the price of subsidised cooking gas. Owing to the hike, a non-subsidised cylinder will cost Rs 59 more, it is said.
