L&O: Annamalai takes a dig at DMK government

BJP State President K Annamalai has launched a scathing critique against the ruling DMK government, accusing it of failing to maintain law and order in Tamil Nadu. His comments come in the wake of an alarming incident involving illegal sand miners in Pudukkottai district.
Expressing his shock over the alleged attempt by illegal sand miners to mow down a Revenue Divisional Officer in Pudukkottai, Annamalai underscored the increasing boldness of anti-social elements since the DMK assumed power. He pointed to a series of violent incidents involving the sand mafia as evidence of the government’s failure to ensure the safety of its officials and citizens.
Annamalai recalled the brutal murder of Village Administrative Officer Y. Lourdhu by the sand mafia in Thoothukudi district, citing it as an early warning sign of the escalating threat posed by these illegal activities. He argued that the inaction of the DMK government has emboldened such elements, leading to continued attacks on government officials in other regions, including Vellore and Salem.
“There is no safety for the lives of government officials, and the state’s law and order situation has deteriorated significantly,” Annamalai stated. He emphasized that maintaining law and order is the primary duty of any government and warned that the BJP would be compelled to organize statewide protests if the DMK government does not take immediate action to address these issues.
