‘The Chennai Heritage Auto Show 2018′ to be held at Sri Ramachandra Convention Centre, 1/31, South Avenue, Vasudevan Nagar, Tiruvanmiyur on 5 August.

Addressing mediapersons here on Thursday, Madras Heritage Motoring Club president Balraj Vasudevan said, visitors can go down memory lane with an enchanting line up of vintage, classic cars and bikes.

The event will be inaugurated by film actor Sathyaraj at 9 am and Federation of Historic Vehicles of India (FHVI) president Dr Ravi Prakash will distribute the prizes at 12.30 pm, he said.

“Over 140 vintage, classic cars and more than 35 bikes will participate in a grand display from 9 am to 1.30 pm. There will be cars such as Jaguar, MG, Dodge Brothers, Chevrolet, Ford, Peugeot, Austin and Mercedes that range from the 1920s to 1970s,’ Balraj said and added that Dr Ravi Prakash, an avid collector with over a 200 vintage and classic cars to his credit will also participate.

Visitors can also see a good collection of cars which have come on celluloid. A 1936 model Cord 810 owned by The Indian Express chairman Vivek Goenka, six cars owned by the members of Karnataka Vintage and Classic Car Club will be part of display,” he said.

Speaking about how the vehicles would be judged and prizes will be given, Balraj said, “They will be judged by experts Raja Mookerjee and Partha Banik for authenticity, restoration, mechanicals and prizes will be distributed in several categories.”

The event is sponsored by TAFE, MRF, Sundaram Motors and Devendra, all of whom are from the auto industry showing their support for this classic event, he said.

Madras Heritage Motoring Club is a member of Federation of Historic Vehicles of India (FHVI). The federation represents nearly 80 per cent of the historic vehicle owners through the clubs and museums in India and also represents the country at international level. FHVI has at present nearly 2,000 members and about 10,000 vehicles.
