Chennai: A seventh grade girl of Mugappair in the city is achieveing high in athletics. Angelin Swetha, a student of Velammal school has taken part in many athletic events like 100 meters, 200 meters and long jump.

Angelin has been involved in athletics for the past four years. She has achieved first place in regional level athletic events. She has also taken part in district level events and in junior State level athletics.

When asked how she got interested to get involved into athletics, Angelin says that she always loved watching it as a young girl. She grew up watching several sports in TV.

“I especially loved watching running races,” she says. These eventually motivated her to become an athlete herself. “My family has always been supportive of me,” says Angelin. “My father, my mother and my eldest sister help me in every possible way.”

Angelin also improves her performance by regularly working out at a club near her home. But despite a tough schedule for her practising, Angelin also performs well academically. She is a topper in her school.

“My school trains us to do well both academically and also in sports,” says Angelin. After returning home from school, Angelin would study and again resume her athletic practise. Apart from her interests in athletics, Angelin is into drawing as her hobby. “I love drawing,” she says. “Some times, I also do swimming.”
