Darshan curtailed at Tirupati owing to consecration ceremony

Chennai: Darshan at the Tirumala temple of Lord Venkateswara has been curtailed since last night owing to the kumbabhishekam rituals being conducted there.

The temple had actually planned to stop all darshan during the consecration period from 11 August to 16 August, but when a hue and cry was raised due to it, it relented and said darshan would be regulated.

This came into force last night. People opting for dharma (sarva) darshan and who climb the seven hills and have divya darshan, will not be able to do so, according to reports from Tirupati, quoting the Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanam officials.

The consecration ceremony will take place 16 August and all the darshans would be restored from midnight of that day, it said.
