Chennai: A man who carried out robberies at two houses in Virugambakkam was caught by the city police. Nearly 14 sovereigns were recovered from him.
According to the police, Parvathy (62) of Venkatesan Nagar, Saligramam lodged a complaint with the police that 10 sovereings had gone missing from her house last night.
She had locked her house and went to her daughter’s house nearby. Similarly, Arul (53) who lived a few streets away alleged that four sovereigns were missing from her house as well.
After conducting an inquiry, police nabbed Raja (25) and recovered the gold.
Raja, police said, hailed from Royapuram and was a history-sheeter. There are cases of assault, chain snatching and mobile phone theft against him.
