Traffic Ramaswamy contests in HC dismissal of his petition

Chennai: Social activist Traffic Ramaswamy, in a plea before the Madras High Court today, complained about the dismissal of his petition seeking a ban on the construction of memorials at the Marina beach.

He alleged that his petition was put aside without seeking his opinions. The Supreme Court on 8 August dismissed a petition filed by Ramaswamy, seeking a stay on the last rites of late Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president M Karunanidhi at the Marina Beach.

Justice Ranjan Gogoi, who was heading the bench of the apex court, instructed Ramaswamy’s advocate to first file a Special Leave Petition (SLP) and then mention the matter before the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Deepak Misra.
