Chennai: Three members of a fringe Tamil outfit have been arrested for allegedly planning to hoist a black flag on the Independence day, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team had on 14 August caught the trio who were found carrying pamphlets containing anti-India slogans, a release from police department said.

The accused had planned to hoist a black flag on the occasion of Independence Day, the release said.

All those arrested belonged to the outfit Tamil Desiya Viduthalai. The three were produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.

Further investigation is on, the release added.
