Chennai students win contest held by Shriram Group

Shiram Chits PRO George Stephen giving away the award to I Akshaya Sri at a function held in Chennai recently. Compere Vijayan, Quaide Milleth International Academy of Media studies dean Nazima Sikkandar and Bharathidasan Government College for Women Professor Kirungai S Sethupathi are present.

Chennai: I Akshaya Sri of Velammal Vidhyalaya School, Mel Ayanambakkam won first prize in ‘seniors’ category and N Arun of Madras Medical College, emerged topper in ‘college’ category of the state-level Thirukkural contest conducted by Shriram Ilakkiya Kazhagam, the literary wing of Shriram Group.

According to a press release, the competition was conducted at three levels and witnessed an overall participation of 2,087 students.

The finals was conducted at Dr MGR Janaki Arts & Science College for Women and first prize winners were honoured with a cash award of Rs 10,000, second with Rs 7,500, third with Rs 5,000 and fourth with Rs 2,500.

Apart from it, a shield, trophy and certificate were given to the winners. Books worth Rs 3,000 were given away to the institutions that produced the winners.
