Chennai: For this year’s Deepavali, TASMAC has set a target revenue of Rs 320 crore. The festival of lights is no longer confined to just crackers and sweets as liqour has become an integral part of the celebrations which is evident from the hike in sales in the recent years.
Last year the sales was Rs 244 crore which is one crore more than the previous year’s collection of Rs 243 crore.
The high expectation in the revenue for this year is said to be because of the weekend that preceded Deepavali. TASMAC Managing Director R Kirlosh Kumar has said shops that are caught selling liqour more than the MRP will be fined an amount of Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000.
To ensure that there is no hindrance in sales, TASMAC outlets have been asked to keep enough stocks and the employees too have been adviced on this.
New varieties have been stocked up, sources said. The Deepavali sales will be calculated for this year from 3 to 6 November.
It is said verbal instruction has been given to the outlets regarding the sales target during these four days.
