Chennai: Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have issued a public notice about fake websites fraudulently offering business opportunities for appointment of LPG distributors under the Prime Minister Ujwala Yojana (PMUY) or under the erstwhile Rajeev Gandhi Gramin LPG Vitarak Yojana (RGGLV) schemes.
“It has come to the notice of OMCs that a number of fake websites have been created with URL www.ujjwaladealer.com, www.lpgvitarakchayan.org, www.ujjwalalpgvitarak.org and www.indanelpg.com by some unknown person(s)/bogus agencies,” the notice stated.
“In order to dupe innocent applicants, the layout of the fake website has been kept similar to the original website www.lpgvitrakchayan.in,” it added.
The home page of the fake website refers to their registered office as UJJWALARGGLV_YOJANA, Ujjwala Apartment, M G Road Kandivali, West Mumbai, Maharashtra 400067.
Fraudulent emails are being sent from an email Id: [email protected]. These websites are targeting innocent people and are sending fake emails allegedly from the Oil Marketing Companies, the notice added.
“The public is therefore advised to visit only official websites of OMCs or www.lpgvitrakchayan.in for authentic and official information and prevent themselves from being cheated by the unscrupulous elements,” the notice said.
Furthermore, public is also advised to lodge a complaint with the cybercrime branch of police in case such websites come in contact with them.
It must be noted that the PMUY scheme does not envisage opening of separate LPG Distributorships exclusively for the scheme.
