Synopsis
My Paparotti (2013) – Director Jong-chan Yun
Sang-jin was a promising young singer who now works as a high school music teacher after suffering from vocal cord tumor. His ordinary life is suddenly rattled when Jang-ho, a local teen hooligan is transferred to his school.
Jang-ho is a constant source of headache, but upon hearing Kang-ho’s singing voice, he realizes the boy’s ture talent and decides to help develop it. Just as the two grow their special bond, unexcepted conflict arises between two rival gangs, which propels Jang-ho into a crisis. Will Jang-ho overcome the obstacles and fulfill his destiny as a world-class singer?
Kundo: Age of the Rampant (2014) – Director Jong-bin Yoon
The year is 1859, feudal Joseon is plagued with numerous natural disasters, poor harvest, poverty. hunger and death. But the rich nobles are only concerned with their own wealth and continue to exploit and persecute the poor. In this dark period, Kundo, a righteous group of thieves, was a single shred of hope for the poor, an entity which can be the subject of fear to unjust nobles. Joo Yoon is the son of a wealthy nobleman, but his mother is a concubine. Even though he excels in martial arts, he isn’t recognised for his talents because of his lineage. After killing poor butcher Dol Moo Chi’s mother and sister, millionaire Joo Yoon commands absolute power over him. Clouded by vengeance, Dol Moo Chi is accepted as a member of Kundo and unsheathes his sword for the weak.
Hope (2013) – Director Joon-ik Lee
On her way to school, a young girl named So-won gets sexually assaulted by a drunk older male stranger. As a result, she suffers multiple internal injuries and has to undergo a major surgery, but her emotional wounds are equally difficult to heal. Their happy family shattered, her parents Dong-hoon and Mi-hee go through feelings of pain and rage. From the trauma of that day, So-won refuses to see or talk to her father, so Dong-hoon hides beneath the costume of his daughter’s favorite cartoon character and becomes a “guardian angel” at her side. Thanks to the love of those around her, So-won’s condition gradually improves. At the sight of So-won slowly finding stability and laughter, her family also begins to change and enters a new phase in their lives, trying to find hope in the midst of their sorrow and despair.
