Chennai: A total of 36,868 passengers have utilised Chennai Metro Rail Ltd’s (CMRL’s) share auto and share taxi services in last December, an increase by 3,002 against the previous month.
Among CMRL’s various initiatives of providing last-mile connectivity, share auto and share taxi feeder services are plying at select Metro Rail stations on a trial basis for six months since 11 August last year. Eight Metro stations were identified for share autos which are running on the designated feeder routes with a flat tariff of Rs 5.
Similarly, share taxi feeder services have been implemented at five Metro Rail stations and they are covering a 3-km radius with a flat tariff of Rs 10.
In December, 36,868 passengers used the services, compared to 33,866 in November. A total of 5,062 passengers have utilised share taxis while 31,806 have utilised share autos. Also, 9,531 passengers have availed the share auto and share taxi feeder services in Koyambedu and Alandur Metro stations alone.
