Chennai: Governor Banwarilal Purohit and Madras High Court judge Justice Anitha Sumanth graced the 36th annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath conducted by ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) at Sri Rani Mahal, Eechangadu Junction – Medavakkam Main Road Monday.
A press release said ISKCON leaders — Jayapataja Swami, Bhanu Swami and Sukadev Swami participated in the Yatra. “The pulling of the cart also signifies devotees pulling the Lord into their hearts, requesting the Lord to take residence in their very lives. Rath yatras happening in the city benefit the devotees who cannot travel to Puri to participate in the event held there,” the release said.
