Residents in Chennai area want cops to regulate share autos on 100 ft road

Chennai: The parking of share autos on 100 Feet Road at Vadapalani not only affects traffic, but also makes it an accident-prone spot, say residents.

Metro rail and the bus terminus are in close proximity and, hence, a huge crowd gets down here to reach their destination. By parking share autos, the stretch gets congested. The authorities, with the help of the traffic police, should decongest the place by removing the share autos, says Kalpana, a regular in the area.

The share autos are lined up as if it is their designated spot which irks the floating population, says Ramakanaga Subburathinam, a resident.

As pedestrians are finding it difficult to use the road, the officials can earmark a separate place for them, says Sankaran Narayanan, another resident.

Devika, a software professional, says stringent action should be taken against the autodrivers who park their vehicles and encroach the space.
