Chennai: Madras High Court today lashed out at the State government for planning to conduct the 10th standard board exams during the lockdown period.
Hearing a petition requesting to cancel the board exam, the Court said, “What is the necessity to conduct the exam during the lockdown which will cause nconvenience to 9 lakh students, 3 lakh teachers, cops and revenue department officials.”
It added: “When the Central government has advised to think about reopening school after July, will the State government violate this.”
The Court also said that conducing exams during lockdown is not like opening TASMAC.
“We cannot allow to conduct the exam on 15 June. The government should reply before 2.30 pm today about conducting the exam after 15 July,” the Court said.
Meanwhile, State Education Minister K A Sengottaiyan met Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami earlier in the day.
